Is was nice to see members of community at Surfers Poker meeting up in real life and going to Las Vegas and other tournaments around the world. For a trip down memory lane, here are a few extracts from trip threads and a few photos:
1. DrJustice heads to Vegas
A little extract from DrJustice's first visit, where he met up with Willtakem and Tomano:After i did all the errands i practiced on my pool skills to find out that my skills are still horrible. Oh well its still fun to do. Around 3pm Wayne stopped by after a long trip from Cali. With the Electronic Daisy Carnival festival going on here the traffic must have been horrid. After a long refreshing and relaxing dive in the pool we went to have dinner in Guadalajara (such a tongue breaker) at Boulder Station accompanied by Wayne's family. Lots of fun and some good food made me grade my Chicken Fajitas triple A.
After dinner Wayne and me checked out the poker room and i saw this juicy 4/8 Limit Omaha game. Full of surprises to see 10 way pots. It seems that the average preflop pot size was like $80 and it wasn't uncommon to add another $80 by the end of the pot. $160 pots @ 4/8 Limit Omaha. I almost couldn't resist my temptation and pull a hit and run But i still felt a little bit tired, so i decided to let it go for now
Next Destination was Ceasars. After overthinking it for bits i decided i wanted to play the $550 6max on Monday. At arrival at Ceasars at tournament registration i found out that the tournament was sold out already and i reckon i should have reg'd 2 days prior to the start, because it was capped at 64 max . Oh well no worries, there are still plenty of games going on. I met up with Wayne and we checked out the girls at the PussyCat Dolls stand at Ceasars. Their free show wasn't as good as the one at Rio, but it was a pleasant look. Enough enjoyment to keep watching
As for today (Monday 27 June) i'm probably ending up playing some cash at Aria or Monte Carlo and then play the Nightly deepstack at Aria.
I wish you all a great Monday/Tuesday i'm going for a quick/long refresher in the pool.
Whether conditions:
Sun Sun Sun Sun at 104 degrees fahrenheit/40 degrees celcius.
Viva Las Vegas

2. Here is a bit of an extract from the BlueRain/DrJ/Willtakem/KT/Redonkulous trip:
KT's says: KmfT Limo, No homos, ntawwt
Ours says: Surfers Poker Limo for Jeroen and the other guy"
As for me, I started out pretty bad, making small mistakes and stuff. My conclusion is that my deepstacked play is awful since I never play. When it got more turboy I started to shove around a little and got more confidence, since I know what the f to do. Kt and I actually made the F2T. 13 players got paid. We were both relatively short, with average around 60k in the beginning. I doubled up with AK vs 99 in order to give me 70k, which was average at that time. KT had around 60k as well after a double up, so we were in great shape.
Theres now 15 left, with atleast 4-5 players with a shorter stack than us. I had 2 bountys as well, KT 3, so we actually got something back. I decided only to play good hands ofc and get dealt TT and raise to 7.5k with blinds 1500-3000 and 500 ante. A huge stack calls on the btn and the french fish calls the BB. The flop comes 999. To be continued..
I hear rumours that there are only 14 players left, so someone busted on the other table. I suddenly see KT walking to the rail His stack was gone too.. After interviewing him, he 3b with 99 and someone called his 3b with J8 they got it in on a T8x flop and you can imagine what happened.
So back to my hand. Now the table knew there were 14 left. The french guy checks the flop and I proceed to bet around 11k. The chipleader puts me allin, french guy turbo mucks. Poor me, sitting there, knowing KT went out 15th and I could bust 14th Had he called my preflop raise with a good pair? Nahh, I make the tough call, he turns over AJ for a bluff and obv spikes the A on the turn. 14th and bubble. He also told me that if there were 15 left, he would not have made the move, thanks KT
The night ended on a high though, since I met connor on that table. He busted 13th, looked us up and we went to his suite in the Venetian. Drinks were freaking expensive though, so we went to our condo, had some beers and most of all, some good laughs, since he was high as a mofo. At 1:30 AM we went to the nearest casino and played some roulette and blackjack. It was def a lot of fun and well probably meet the guy more often the coming days. Now planning to hook up with some girls."
Got a badbeat tho right after it.. Asked the dealer out on a date, since she was HOT. She denied me though. Even after KT asked her if she was sure, she denied me.. So it was time to get drunk.
I promised KT a big-ass steak right after I won. After wandering around for a bit we got to the world-famous outback steakhouse and had beers and loads of sangria and a big-ass steak for KT ofc ($40 ) I was paying obv (well KT paid some as well, since he was drinking and eating so much). Bill was $200. First balla night in the books.
Today we will play the $130 mixed max at caesars. ~Red will join us tonight"
The last line took forever. anyone on the guestlist or with boobs bigger than cup A was allowed in before us. Then a guy steps out of the line, talks to one of the security guys, gives him (I believe) $60, and is allowed in. Money talks in this club. After finally reaching the cashier, we donate $50 each to even get in. Sebastian Ingrosso, a DJ from the Swedish House Mafia, was tonights DJ. The scenery of the club was insane. It had an outside area with a pool, balcony, tables etc. The dancefloor was filled with goodlooking women and the men around them. 75% was asian xD
The DJ was ofc great and after some dancing, KT and I want to get a drink. $32 later we both have a vodka redbull and are off to go again. A simple bottle of water was already $8.... All in all, it was worth it. $74 per person is cheaper than busting a freaking poker tournament, and we had fun for several hours. My eyes are exhausted after the amount of gorgeous girls we saw. Insane."
We def had to visit one whilst being in Vegas ofc. It was a fun night The best thing for me was to see my $20 turn into a lapdance for the Dr. It was well worth it
PRENTO CHICKEN!!!! He didnt visit us with the xbox and fifa. Coward
I returned yesterday after a very good flight, it was 10x as good as the flight towards vegas, way faster and more sleep. I also met some dutch DJ who had played in Vegas, Frontliner. Not a very well known DJ, atleast he was new for me. Logical, since his stream of music is hardstyle xD. In the 2nd plane I was seated next to a dutch professional cyclist and the son of the sprinting legend Jean-Paul van Poppel. I had a nice chat with him, as I'm very interested in cycling and know a little about it. I made him promise to win a stage in the Tour de France within 3 years, otherwise I will look him up
To summarize, I have had the time of my life. It was great to get to know surfers and I found it pretty unique for 5 people from different places to get together via an online pokerforum and to have so much fun. It was a great experience and as far as poker goes I must say Im def more interested in the game again. This was mostly due to the last tournament I have played, which was the RIO Deepstack. As far as I know, I played a near perfect tournament and Im confident that it was my best tournament ever played. I will prolly get back into online poker in the near future.
My problem is ofc, that its one of many plans I have. The good thing is, I am mentally completely refreshed to take on all of those plans. A good rest for my body is however needed first. Recuperation is key. Training will be key after that.
WillTakem, a big thanks to you. Firstly, you were so generous to let us stay in your house for almost a week. You drove us everywhere and had great stories to tell. Thanks for this great experience.
~Red, you showed us a no nonsense attitude towards life. You work a gazillion hours a week for everything and you have an outstanding motivation for it. No bullshit, just so it. I can be whiny at times, so it was fun to see this.
KT, you're crazy. You need to visit holland soon and I will visit London soon. BOOM!
DrJ, thanks for organising this whole trip. It has been great. The house was great and we've seen beautiful places. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Money talks, and due to making a little profit at poker, my total expenses stayed below $3000 for 2.5 weeks in the states. This means that I still have a bankroll left online of ~$3000, which is still really healthy. Time to put some more photos on the world wide web."
3. Summer Classics
DrJustice, BlueRain, TomPerez, DQS80, Dutchmart, Craxer all went to the Holland Summer Classics (HCSOP). 200 entrants. 330 Euros buy-in. TomPerez went deep, entering the final table as the shortstack, but turned it around and won the tournament! His first ever live tournament. Cheered on the whole way by the Surfers on the rail
4. OuchBadBeat at the NAPT in Vegas:
"good and bad news
good: im still in
bad: not doing very well, also kinda concerned with how i played
if my memory is correct, there were 872 starting players and 510 survived day 1 mincash is 128th place for 7k+, first pays over 870k
i ended the day with 16300 chips, after a really bad 2nd half of the day. really carddead and surrounded by aggressive players, if i did raise id get reraised etc, if i did see a flop id miss and be out of position, just all sorts of trouble for me today
tomorrow the blinds go up to 500/1000 with 100 ante so ill be in shovefold mode, but the blinds last slightly longer (75 mins)
also i think theres a seat redraw so i probably wont know any of the players on my table
highlight of the day: seein greg raymer make a propbet on throwing an empty bottle of water (small one too, not easy to throw) about 5 metres into a fairly small bin while sitting down
He somehow got someone to lay 30-1 on $5 and roflcopters he made it first go
i had my camcorder in my pocket i really wish id filmed that, woulda been a youtube hit
also i need to srsly stop degen'ing money on blackjack/roulette so fkin tempting on poker breaks
so thats $100 gone today
ah i suck
5. DutchMart at ANZPT (Australia New Zealand Poker Tour)
"I was pretty tight, but had to play alot in the first stage. I got Aces three times!! Had to fold one as I got three callers to my raise and the flop showed 3 spades. I betted out pot and got one caller. Off course the turn was a spade as well and I had to give it up. Costed me like 1000. So in the first hour I went up to 25000, really good. Won the other two AA without showdown, but managed to make the pots big. Also hit a straigt with the TT when the river J completed my straight.
After that I went carddeath for the other four hours, just picking up some small pots and losing a bigger one with AQ after a KKQ flop. Had to lay it down though. I stole some pots, but nothing big. Ended the day with 20.300 and we are starting on friday with 200-400 blinds and a 25 ante. Still like 50 Big Blinds left and deep enough to play some poker. Avarage stack is 23k so Im in there good still.
I'm planning to loosen up a bit and am also planning to get better cards
Tomorrow we're going to do a river ride in the shotover jet
but i reserve the right to degen several thousand dollars when i ship the 870k"

6. PB-SP-SC in Brazil
Whilst not exactly poker related, PB-SP-SC entertained us with his many adventures across Brazil on his Harley. He started a thread one day, saying he was buying his first bike, and before long he was customising it with all kinds of things, and getting involved in many club rides across the country, and working his way up eventually to VP of his club!

As you might be able to tell from the custom detailing of his Harley, PB is a O8 fan, and ran many O8 stakes, and Going Deep threads
