How to play Baseball Poker

Baseball poker is a fun poker variant which is a bit like stud poker in format, but with wild cards, and a card with a special attribute.

Note: 3's and 9's are wild, and 4's are a special card

Each player is first dealt 3 cards as in 7 card stud. (2 face down, 1 face up)

Betting proceeds as in 7 card Stud, ie you now bet on every street until 7th street.

The variation, apart from the threes and nines being wild is that if you get dealt a 4 in any of your upcards (ie 3rd street to 6th street) then you get dealt an additional card face down. Therefore you can end up with more than 7 cards at the end.

The best 5 card poker hand wins.

In theory you could be making this hand out of 11 cards if, in the unlikely event, you get dealt all the 4 fours in your upcards. In reality there is usually just the odd player with 8 cards, the rest with 7.

Naturally if you start with a 3 and a 9 in your first 2 downcards, then this is an incredibly strong hand, and you can bet it with supreme confidence.
